November 29th, 2015

Hey dudsons,

So today I went to the Chinese essay writing competition at this place near Chinatown.  I don't think that I did that well, because I had absolutely no ideas on what to write about.  There were two topics
to write about: one about your dreams (你的梦想) and one about your family (我的可爱的家庭).  The thing is that I chose the first topic and I talked about how I wanted to be a doctor, but then I ran out of things to talk about.  I bet if I chose the other topic I would have more things to write about.

I actually love Adele now.  She sings with such great emotion and you can tell she doesn't just do it for the money.  On the other hand, Taylor Swift (in my opinion) used to sing good, but now she doesn't.  I mean she sings well on the radio, but live?  Not so much.  I used to love her, but not so much anymore.

Hey dudsons,

So today I didn't do much.  Tomorrow, I'm doing this essay writing contest thing for Chinese and I don't think I'm gonna win honestly.  The teacher just wanted me to go because I'm pretty good at Chinese, but I honestly hate writing essays!

Anyways, I also went grocery shopping with my parents today, haha.  I love it, even though some kids hate grocery shopping. I think it's fun, and my mom teaches me how to look for the good, fresh fruit and veggies.  :)

Good luck to me on the contest tomorrow!

Hey dudsons,

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!!  I hope that all of you guys scored some awesome deals.  I went to the outlet mall. I waited nearly three hours to pay at Nike, haha.  But there were some good deals so that was what mattered.  I didn't buy much for myself, but my parents bought a lot and so did my brother.  I only bought a pair of Nikes.

Hey dudsons,

So today I did so bad (at least I think I did) during the Socratic circle during English.  It's basically like a group discussion, but it feels like an oral presentation.  For some reason, even though I have great opinions that I want to share in my head, when I say it, I stumble over my words and I have no idea what to say.  So in the end, I get really embarrassed because I feel like everyone is just gonna think that I'm dumb.  My cheeks get really red when I speak too, I don't know why.

Hey dudsons,

It seems that a lot of people are blogging about travelling to other places.  I have a good idea too. So for Synergy, we can leave on a Friday and come back on a Monday or a Tuesday.  That way we don't have to waste any extra school days.  It should be somewhere nearby too, such as Victoria or maybe Seattle.  And it's cheaper since it's only a few days and so that it won't be during winter break or spring break when people already have plans with their family to go elsewhere.  It's our last year in Synergy and it would be great to cherish it and make memories.

Something that would also be good is that there would be one student in charge of finding good deals. It doesn't matter where we go, as long as it is cheap, because some students may find it hard to fork over $1500.

For example, here's a great deal that I found online at Expedia.  I just picked a random date, but the leaving day was a Friday and the returning day was a Tuesday.  The price includes the hotel fee and the plane ticket to the Victoria airport.  it also includes taxes!

So this is what I did:

And these are the prices. Of course, there are cheaper options, but these were the ones that were on the top of the page.

And these are relatively good hotels too.  It would be awesome if we can go on a trip to somewhere else as a class!

Hey dudsons,

I've been watching some Youtubers going to Tokyo and I really really want to go someday.  I mostly want to go because shopping there seems so fun.  For example, there are 100 yen stores (which is approximately one dollar in CAD) like Daiso that sell really awesome stuff for cheap prices.  They sell everything from socks, makeup, dinnerware, and so much more.  Also the shopping malls seem so much more larger in Japan than here in Canada.  I also want to go to Japan to eat some ramen and to eat authentic Japanese curry.  Of course, I have to try the sushi there.  I actually want to go to Seoul too since the Namdaemun market seems so fun.  It's like a big flea market that sells very cheap stuff and delicious street food.

Today after school Amie and I went around the neighborhood selling cookies.  We made approximately $25 dollars of profit, so that is good, but I doubt that we will reach the $1000 mark :(

Hey dudsons,

So what do I think about having a Synergy 10 class?  I think it's gonna be really cool if there is one, and perhaps instead of  having only 30 students, there should be 60 students split into two classes.  Maybe some of the Synergy classes should be split into two classes: one for old Synergy students and one for new ones.  Then there would be some of the Synergy classes that would a mix of all Synergy students.  So I do indeed think that it would be an awesome idea; however, I think that it is might be a little complicated.

Also, my group members of our NPO are quite mad about something.  It's because our friends that were selling something that was completely different from us started selling the same stuff as us too!  If you were our real friends you'd respect us and not compete with us.  They also made an agreement before with one of our group members and they have broken that agreement.
Anyways, on a brighter note I think our group got approved to sell cookies in the cafeteria.  Yay!

Hey dudsons,

So for French today all we did was making mini posters with the topic being "Paix pour Paris" (Pray for Paris).  Ms. Chuaqui (my teacher) said that she would choose some to give to teachers who were from Paris to comfort them.  Anyways, we didn't even have to do our chapter test that we were supposed to and the oral presentation too, haha.

Gym was also fun today as we helped the grade 8s learn about their indoor track meet.

Hey dudsons,

So today I went to a casino.

What do you think I did there?  Gamble?  Of course not!  There was a Chinese restaurant there. Yeah, so I ate lunch there with my family and also my relatives.  The restaurant was pretty high end, so the food was relatively expensive.  I would say the food was pretty okay, nothing extraordinary.  Before I went into the restaurant, we passed by the actual casino part and it looked so cool in there.  There was bright lights, flat screen TVs, two levels, I can see why many adults like to go to the casino.  Too bad I can't go in there ( I probably wouldn't gamble, but just look around ) and see what's in there.

Also, I got a haircut today.  At first I thought it was too short even though the hairdresser only cut off one inch.  You see, I really was looking forward to growing long hair, but my hair was getting out of shape so I had to trim it.  Anyways, I'm okay with my hair now.

Oh yeah, and for those of you wondering I ate at the Grand Dynasty Seafood Restaurant at the Grand Villa Casino.

Hey dudsons,

So today Paris got attacked by terrorists.  I don't get the idea of killing innocent people just to prove one's power and for perhaps revenge.  My love and prayers go out to all the family members and friends of loved ones that have been killed by such ruthless people.

Anyways, on a happier note, I went to this great restaurant called Pidgin in Gastown for my aunt's birthday.  They serve Asian fusion cuisine, so it's a mix of Western-styled dishes and Eastern-styled dishes.  We ate a lot of food, and probably had more than 10 appetizers for 8 people.  For the main course, I ordered this pork belly rice bowl with a quail egg.  It was pretty good, but I didn't eat much of that, because I was really full from eating all the appetizers.  A cool appetizer that I tried was the oyster shot.  So it's a raw oyster inside a shot glass mixed with a liquid composed of apple and horseradish.  It was sour, but okay.  For those who want to try, the address is 350 Carrall Street, Vancouver.

Hey dudsons,

Today I had a bad experience in the girl's washroom.  This may be disturbing to some readers, so please skip this paragraph if you feel that you are uncomfortable with the topic of fecal matter.  Okay, so at lunch time, I went into the first stall to do my business.  I smelled something funky, and realized that there was a piece of poop on the floor, right behind the toilet!  And then I realized that the back part of the toilet had a lot of toilet paper.  And then I saw that the toilet bowl had some poop in it.  SO I quickly went to another stall.  I mean how can someone's poop end up on the floor and even on the section of the floor behind the toilet?!?!

Anyways, today I got back my science quiz/test and I was so glad that I that I got an A, considering many people got lower. I honestly didn't study for an extreme amount of time, but I still studied.

I also got my math mark so far for the term and I also got an A.  YAY!!

School ended today at 1:30 because of parent teacher conferences.  I'm not doing it because when my dad went on the website to register, all the teachers were full.

Hey dudsons,

So today I almost slipped on a banana peel in Safeway today, and it was so funny to me because I thought that only happened in cartoons!  But I didn't actually know the banana was a banana because it was really black in color since it was starting to rot.  Eww...

Today was the Remembrance Day ceremony, since tomorrow we don't have school.  I was kind of pissed off, because someone from behind threw a lollipop stick (which was still sticky) at me.  I think it was a boy from French Immersion.  I  he didn't mean to aim it at me, maybe at the space where there's the stair part that leads into that room in the auditorium.  (Sorry, if that's confusing I don't know how to describe that particular space properly)

I just learned that we have until next month to finish up on our NPO projects. 0_0  My group only has about $100.  I don't know if we can earn $900 during the following weeks.

Anyways, bye!

Hey dudsons,

I was so stressed out for the science quest today.  (No that is not a typo: test + quiz = quest) Anyways, it wasn't too bad, and I even studied more than I needed to.   I was actually so nervous that it took me a long time to sleep last night.  And when I did sleep, I kept on waking up.

Funny, I also had a bad dream about crows.  So I was at school and where ever I went there would be a crow perched on something and staring at me.  It was just creepy.
So today during PE, I looked outside the window, and I saw two crows.  I was so scared, so I told my friend Amie to look, but right when she turned her head to look, they flew away,  Even more creepy...

Today is my dad's birthday, so we went out to eat at this Italian restaurant near West Boulevard.  It was really good; even the complimentary bread was so yummy.  It was basically pizza slices without the toppings and sauce, but there was this really good dipping sauce that went along with it.  For dinner, I ordered a seafood linguine and it was also very good.  I was also really full too and even now when I'm writing my blog, I am still full.  The restaurant is called Senova, by the way if you want to try.  The address is 1864 W 57th Ave, Vancouver.

So today for dinner I went to Coquitlam where my grandparents live.  But before that, I went to the Adidas store where my family bought a lot of stuff.  (e.g. 4 sports bag [like the type you bring to the gym], one pair of shoes, and one t-shirt)  I love  shopping, so that was great.

Anyways, I went to this restaurant called "Deer Garden" in Coquitlam.  They serve Chinese food and the food there is awesome.  They have huge portions and the food is cheap.  We had sweet and sour pork, sweet and sour fried fish, bitter melon and beef, and much more.  Anyways, I went home with a full belly.

Hey dudsons,

It was raining today.  I don't know why, but I always feel like sleeping when it rains.

I think for my NPO (Non-profit organization), we earned about $90 dollars.  As mentioned in previous blogs, we were selling cookies.  It's amazing because that's almost 10% of our goal which is $1000.  Some people are actually really kind, because they donate for example, $5, and don't even want to have a cookie.

For English today, we did something really different.  We had a discussion in class, but we were sitting in two separate groups: the inner circle group and the outer circle group.  The outer circle sat around the inner circle people in desks, and listen to what the inner circle people have to say about the topic.  They take notes and give feedback back to the inner circle people.  Now, the inner circle people talk about the topic, which is about an excerpt from the Star Wars and Philosophy book.  About 1/3 of the people didn't speak, another 1/3 of the people spoke a little bit, and another 1/3 of the people were leading the group and talking a lot.

Here's a cover of Adele's song Hello that is pretty good in my opinion:

My friend from another school recently went on a class trip to Quebec.  That's so cool, because I have never experienced going somewhere and staying for more than one night as a class, not even camping, since the year I was in grade 7, there was a teacher strike :(.  I hope I can participate in a class trip over the next few years.

It was a good experience, and I now know (well, I've always known actually) that my mom's job is not that easy and that a mom's job is never done.  And it's so sad that moms never get paid, have sick days or holidays.  They have to keep on working 24/7.
