June 13th, 2015

Hey dudsons,

So today was the last day of Chinese school.  The feels man.  No more homework and studying for tests, hip hip hooray!  Well we got our certificates and I got basically this straight A or like Outstanding Student certificate, and so yeah, that was pretty cool.  I also got another certificate for perfect attendance this term.  We also got some prizes too, so I got this pretty cute notebook, but also got this desk standing pen that I may never use.  I also got a dry erase marker.  I guess that's pretty "cool".  Luckily I have a Hello Kitty  dry erase board (lol) in my bedroom.  We watched this amazing Chinese movie for the remainder of the period.  It tells the true and arduous journey of the late Yip Man, a famous martial arts master who stood up for his country.  The movie in English is called "Ip Man".  I was learning about history, but it was very interesting at the same time.  Gave me the feels.

After that, I did not go home and study as we had to drive my brother to his extra-lesson.  For lunch we had this sushi and miso soup combo.  We also shopped for grocery and I popped into Tom Lee to buy a music book.

I saw the new outlet mall and it sure has made progress.  Almost looks...done.  I can't wait and see what's going to be there in I think late spring.  I'm not sure, but they better hurry up or I'll RAGE..just kidding, don't be scared.

Hey dudsons,

Guess what!  Less than a week and then school's over....

Wow, now next year I can't use the excuse "But I'm only an eight grader.." or " I don't know what that means..I'm an eight grader".  All those lame excuses.  Actually, I'm lying.  I never use those excuses, but still.  Being an eight grader is like being a kindergarten-er in elementary school.  Pretty much stressed free compared to seventh graders, or in this case twelfth graders.

Hey dudsons,

A little laugh relief

Yep, that might be me, considering I don't like to study and I get distracted EASILY.  I cannot study for even a good 20 minutes before going on Youtube and Facebook or search up something ridiculous on google.  Yeah, that's me.

June 11th, 2015

Hey dudsons,

So hey!  Finals are coming up and I have no idea what I'm going to do.  However, here are some tips to help you study:

1. Use flash cards!

I know you don't want to take the time to do all that, but flash cards are actually really helpful.  Even though flash cards are mostly used for vocabulary, I use it for everything!  (Actually I don't, I have a classmate who does though and uses them like crazy) (I borrow her's sometimes :))  So, anyways, write the question on one side, and the answer on the back.

2.  Review the material right before you go to bed.

Going to sleep right away consolidates all that information in your memory.

3.  Test yourself repeatedly.

Do not just look at all the review questions once thinking that you're going to be okay.  Because you're not.  Student remember more when they force themselves to retrieve concepts than when they reread their textbooks and notes.

4.  Have a good night's sleep and eat nutritious meals.

How can your body possibly survive the next morning if you are all sleep deprived or even hungry?  DON'T just eat an apple and call that a meal.  Add a sandwich or perhaps a wrap.  Sleep a full 9 hours so your brain won't die on you during the test.

5.  Follow your gut instinct on the test.

Most students automatically pick an answer and then change it.  No. Just no.  Your first answer is probably the correct one.  When you second guess yourself, you are going to choose the wrong answer.

6.  Don't be afraid to ask questions!

If you are not sure what the test will include always ask your teacher!  If you're confused about what a word means or the meaning of the question on the test, don't be afraid to ask.  Asking never hurts.  What hurts is getting a question wrong because you misunderstood it.

Hey dudsons,

Ugh!  I forgot to add that I have this really big annoying mosquito bite on my leg.  Seriously it's big.

If only they would go enjoy their pasta instead of me.  Worst part is that I got it during PE when we were playing softball outside, thus my leg was itching the rest of the block.  Today I had PE once again and after I ran two laps, my mosquito felt like it was burning while it was still itchy.  This ain't a simple bite friends.

Hey dudsons,

I got back my socials test and I was super pumped to find out that I got 20/20 on the test, mostly because I thought that I wouldn't get that great of a mark.  Anyways, I did.  We also finished up on our posters on someone from the Renaissance period.  My partner and I chose Pieter Bruegel, a famous and well-known artist from the 16th century.

We also did presentations for science, and I went up and presented my poems, as well as my question and answer.  But we had a code yellow at school and it was apparently because of a robbery near our school.

Code yellow! I repeat code yellow!

Hey dudsons,

Today started off with collab day, so that meant that school started at 10:15 in the morning.  I got to sleep in so that was awesome.  So there was 35 minutes of socials and 35 minutes of french.  It was so funny in French because my teacher was yelling at these three boys, and I tried not to laugh, hehe.

Hey dudsons,

For some reason, I decided to waste all my time after school studying French.  Like why would I do that?  I don't know.  I should have studied socials or science since those tests are going to harder.  I just know.

Hey dudsons,

There was big exam for Chinese school today...but luckily it wasn't all that hard.  The teacher gave us a study sheet which had 80% of what was going to be in the test.  So if you study that, you'll probably get an A.  There was a second part to the exam too, and that part was a little bit trickier as we had to write a full of essay in 30 minutes of 250 to 300 words.  I wrote about my mom, because that was one of the three topics to choose to write about.

After Chinese school, I ate lunch, and near six o'clock in the evening, I went to the YMCA to go swimming.  One thing I hate is to dive deep into the deep end, because my ears just can't allow it.  They really hurt after I go down there, and plus, now my ear feels a little wonky.

There's this science outdoor observations thing due on the 11th, and I am going to do a drawing with some words describing what's happening.  I don't think this is the best idea, but who cares, as long as I get the job done.

Who cares?

Hey dudsons,

Today at PE was really fun, as we walked all the way to the park to play baseball/softball, but my team kept on losing as the other team was OP (over-power).

Anyways, my group finished for this science project and I am very happy as most groups are not even done yet...yay!

Hey dudsons,

I found this really nice poem and here it is:

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

(Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein)

Hey dudsons,

So today I had to go at 8:15 in the morning to Sab's house to work on this film we have to do for science.  It was kind of early, but I was okay with it.  Anyways, we finished filming and will be moving on to the next step which is editing.

After that, my mom and I went to eat dim sum with my mom's friend and her daughter.  The food was pretty good, and after that we went to Richmond Centre.  I bought a dress from H&M and that was it since we only stayed there for around one hour, due to the fact that I had  to go to my piano lesson right after that.

June 1st, 2015

Hey dudsons,

Oops, I almost wrote May instead of June for the date.  Time sure passes fast; now we're in the final month of school.  It just felt like yesterday that was the first day of school.

Let's talk about today though.  So in science we had to dissect a cow eye!  It looked pretty disgusting, and I don't see why people would want to dissect that.. thing *shiver* *shiver*  In the beginning I did not want to touch it.. at all.  But for some reason I had this urging to do it, so I helped dissect it along with some of my other group member.  It wasn't that disgusting, since my focus went to actually doing work and dissecting the eye.  The muscle and fat were hard to cut off.  It was tough and took us a long time.  Next, we cut the eye into two parts, took the lens out, as well as cutting the cornea out.

The cow eye was surely stinky.  Not rotten type of stinky, but it has the scent of some weird antiseptic   solution.  I can still imagine the smell in my mind.

So, first dissection, and it went pretty well.  Not as gross as I thought it would be, and it was actually somewhat cool.

This is what ours somewhat looked like.
